Beacon’s strength is the wide range of industry links we have forged between parents, schools, industry and the community that provide students with mentor role models, work experience and opportunities for employment.
Our partners are encouraged to become more closely involved through engagement opportunities. These could include staff volunteering time and talents to assist No Dole activities such as:
- Industry tours - students and teachers undertake a hands-on tour of a business site to learn more about a specific industry and careers available within it
- Classroom industry sessions - staff visit the classroom to share their knowledge with students, matching real life situations to the school curriculum
- Mock interviews - students engage with business volunteers in a mock interview to refine their job interview skills
- Buddy Up - at risk students are matched one-on-one with a mentor to learn and practise employability skills over several weekly
- Polish – one day workshop helping young people prepare for their careers through personal presentation, communication training and students engage with business volunteers
